um...... try them and find out the gains. i'm a little interested myself. wouldn't expect more than 1whp or 2 depending of if you replace them all or not

lightweight pulleys reduce the rotational mass of your accessory drive... (power steering, water pump, etc)

underdrive pulleys slow down accessory drive components so that at high engine RPMs, they are still in their normal operating range so they don't blow up while racing... (either a larger accessory pulley or a smaller crank pulley)

so steve would u recommend underdrives if im trying 2 rev past 7k by the end of the summer or u think i'll still be ok (not going toooo much higher)

i honestly don't know...

on my car, neither of them are suggested as they both usually lead to blowing the oil pump up as it's that touchy... the only way around it is if you swap the oil pump for a billet one as well as getting a race crank damper... both of which are WAY too expensive to be worth the minimal gains from either the lightweight or underdrive pulleys...

that being said, it's your car... cephus runs the LIGHTWEIGHT pulleys with no problems (right, cephus?)... underdrives should yield the same gains... i personally won't run them till i can afford the mods to run them safely...

honestly, if you could find lightweight underdrive pulleys (best of both worlds), i'd say go for it, but make sure you can hear the motor so that if something goes wrong, you can shut it down quickly... has anyone mentioned any issues with either?

Ive had no problems at all with the lightweight pulleys only really tell they even do anything in top end which isnt much. I got them free so i had to put them on cause nothing is better than free

very true...

i guess if someone paid for/gave me the UD pulleys for my car, i'd pony up the cash for the damper and the OP...

problem is i'd have to pull the front cover to get the OP in... but free pulleys would be decent incentive...

so wut i'm getting is, light weight of coarse is ok though may not be really worth the money (if u can hide it then it's worth it in my opinion) and underdrives MAY cause a problem and should be purchased if only if you have money for an oops if it happens...... correct?

that's exactly how it is with my car, but like i said, it's YOUR car... i'd go to one of the mazda forums and search the uds and see if anyone has had any problems, if they have, don't get them, they aren't worth it...

that being said... 5.0L mustangs swear by them... any 4.6L mustang will swear up and down against them...

that's how different they can react with different motors...

everything Ive read on the V6 ACC pullies.........

hard to install
often have a habit of failing
little or no gains
mostly just to be pretty

if you can get an underdrive pulley.......... thats a diffferent story.

purely hear say, but after looking at where I would need to get to to make that happen.......... I would imagine.

the pulleys are these blue light-weight pulleys..he said if he remembers correctly the gains are like 12 or so hp.

another thing to keep in mind is that you WILL need a different belt. your original belt WILL NOT FIT!

why is that? its only three pulleys and they replace the old ones? i dont know much about pulleys what kind of belt will i need then?

just to clarify, i was referring to the u/d pulleys, not the lightweight pulleys... the l/w pulleys should be a direct bolt-on...

oh oh oh ok that makes sense then. cause my buddy didnt say anything about needing a belt..but i figure 200 bucks for some light weight pulleys isnt a bad deal. now my next question is how hard are they to install?

do you know where your ACC pullies are? it isnt anything I would look forward to installing.......

getting to them is a real pain.....

12HP? no way maybe 1-2..4-5 at the most......... it frees up stolen power from your ACCs.....

the fluidampr underdrive pulley might yeild 10-12HP..... but that is something totally different.

i dont know what that is....but who knows the gains so what you're saying is that im going to hate life when i do this?
