So I've lurked for a while and decided to make a thread on here. It started out as a $400 non running, non titled Miata, and has come a long way. Turbo setup shouldn't be too far away, just getting the funds together.

lol So whats with the mask on the pass seat headrest and what exactly do you mean by non-tittled car?

Lol it was my Obama mask. I have the Burker King, McCain and Obama masks.

And it had no title.

The guy way up top traded it in for a srt4 in '06.
The dealership sold to a wholesaler.
Wholesaler sold to a Bh/Ph.
Guy named Robert bought it, died two weeks later, never registered it.
Title was lost.
His wife drove it to Florida where it sat on her driveway for nearly 3 years.
Sold it to me with no title.

If you dont mind me asking but what all did you have to do to get a title for it?

Not at all, it's part of the story behind this car that makes me put so much into bringing it back.


First I sent for a duplicate title request for it in Robert's name. I then got a letter back saying it was not registered in his name.
I then spent about 2 months, calling both Florida and South Carolina DMV's about what I can do. I also called all three dealerships to find information about it.

I had one dealer actually flip out on me because he was done dealing with this Miata for the last two years. Even told me to get my money back, because it would never be titled again.

Finally DMV told me it was still technically registered in the previous owners name, as dealers don't have to change ownership. Sent another form for an information check, got it back a week later with just a name and address. No phone numbers found on google or any other site, so I turned to facebook, and found him and his wife, and asked if they'd be willing to help, and they said yes.

About a month went by, and no word back. Sent them a message saying I'd pay for the duplicate and send them $80 dollars to do it. All he had to do was take a form to a DMV, and they'd hand them the title within minutes.

He told me money wouldn't speed it up, and that I was hassling him.

Finally, two weeks later he said he'd go and get it, so I sent him the money in blind faith via Western Union. Emailed him a completed form to get the title, so he literally had to just walk in and wait a minute, and then mail it to me.

A week later, I had a title in my hand.

That does sound like it would normally be a HUGE hassel for anyone else to do that.
