It acually use to be on Superbowl weekend but sence the NFL put that week off in before the big game they moved the race back a week into the off week for just that reason. Because the super bowl was always right around my birthday, but now its the race. Thats how I spent my last birthday...they have a 5k run the morning of the 24 hours race and its only $20 to sign up and you get a free infield/grandstand ticket for the race....my advice would be to sign up and pay the $20 for the 5k, come to the 5K and just walk it, its on the track and its a great experience to walk a lap at Daytona, I ran it last year but they dont mind if it takes you an hour to walk it, or half of it, and then you get into the new fan zone for free and then sit in the infield for the 24 hour race, and if you feel like it you can go find a seat in the grandstands later. The only thing is once you leave the infield you cant come back in. Id say you cant get any better of a deal than that. The sign up should be on www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com (http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com) somewhere, I haven checked yet but thats how I did it last year. Oh, and did I mention the free ticket to Daytona USA as well? If you wait untill after the Daytona 500 you can go in and see the winning car from the race, unless you wanna go see Jimmies car from last year just go before the 500. If you have any questions just ask...I always know the best way around things when it comes to Daytona and not getting ripped off. lol

I ran that 5K two years ago it's fun. then I went home. WTF???
hey the race is on tv...
I went yesterday for a few hours and they sure do rip you off.
30 bucks for GA - grandstand only - you want infield - 50 bucks.
if you want the priviledge of going to the garage - 30 more..
80 bucks? they are on crack. I spent the 50 just because I like the vendors inside. The Roberts tower is the best place to watch the race. you can see most of the track including all of the infield, looking right over the entrance/exit. they should put a big screen facing that tower and it would be perfect.
anyway. remember that next year .
p.s I walked thru the garage anyway. some of those security guys must be 100. they didn't notice. :yes3:

Yeah, there on crack lol, thats why I pay the $20 for the 5k and get an infield and grandstand ticket. 2 years ago woulda been the 1st time they ever did the 5k so maybe they just added it last year. I didnt make it out this year, acually spent my birthday in ybor city instead of daytona this year, 21 FTW!
