So I know Im not alone in enjoying the class car shows that old town has put on for years. Recently they have added a friday night show for custom cars. Even more recently they have openned their doors to import custom cars instead of just kit cars and classics.

I went down last friday and entered my car. Figured it might help cullen stir up some business and if nothing else would be kind of fun. When I got there I had to tell the "entry judge" what 4 mods I had done. I figured that meant all mods. He wanted 4 exterior mods.(found that funny since HIN doesnt require anything). I had that covered as most of you know my car is a bit flashy and over the top at times..... It was basicly down hill from there. Other than the 2 GNX owners I spoke to there wasnt a single white person. Lots of ugly scions, hondas, and Neons. It was ironic that they said they would not allow some if there cars werent up to a certain standard..... Im just going to leave it at that.

All the spanish people and seemed to like my car and were amazed. I was amazed at the cars around me how horrible they looked.

I was hoping it would have been a good place to bulid some business..... Less you start selling APC it probably isnt the best place.

PS there was a Mazda Protege there and it said GT-R and was boosted and had a nice little hood scoop. I know of the 323 GTX, but the GT-R I had never heard of? is there such a thing(maybe a JDM thing?)? I would guess it was an early 90s but idk. It was pretty nice pending they removed th neons and the aluminum wing. Just wasnt sure what exactly it was?

Wow, bummer about Old Town. Perhapse we should all go as a group and scare the ricers.

I saw a GT-R badge at Advanced Auto ricer section next to the LED washer nozzles before. I bet that is where it is from.

those are the GTR badges from a Skyline GTR. Sentra owners slap those on because they wish they had a skyline......

it said Protege and then in silver vynil GT-R..... had never seen that before....

I kind of though it was a ricer thing then I though maybe it was a JDM thing.... then I got confused and had to lay down....lol

I went out there this last Friday and it's not anywhere near as bad as they say, although there was a neon that was pretty riced. It is actually a very broad spectrum of vehicles out there. There were a few old Mustangs, an old Nova that was all tubbed out. A few GNX/Regals/Grand Prix G-body cars/ about 4-6 Dodge Charger/Magnum, Several hooked up truck/SUV's, some Honda's. civics and accords and there were several old Corolla's that were pretty nice. There was not an over abundace of minorities like was suggested earlier. I could have even driven my car in the cruise-in and it would have fit in pretty good. Most of the imports were show cars, not performance oriented. There was a Honda Accord, probably 94-97, that had a turbo H22 conversion and TV's and all the show stuff. Nice car.
I will probably go out there again and possible even cruise the new car once it comes in. Good time and lots of beer. They even have the 100oz. beer out there. How can that be anything but a good time?

I was actually there last Friday. I've put my car in at least 4 x's already. I've been the only RX-8 thus far. However, I've not been the only Mazda. Me being the Hispanic that I am have yet to see us minorities being the majorities any of those nights. On the contrary, I've seen many good ole' Americans with their Old Cars, as well the cars mentioned by Boost 3. Those nights have grown and things might have changed a lot since the last time anyone has been there. Yes, I admit there are some cars that make you wonder, "What were they thinking..?" But you must remember that not everyone have the same taste. What may be rice to you, may very well be the best dinner plate for someone else..! I say, go out, take your car, and have a good time. Its great seeing people go up to your car and take pictures and video. Just enjoy it....

BB's correct. There are cars of all kinds on Friday nights. I've taken my car there many times and get a lot of positive comments from the people there. The out-of-towners and tourists from outside the US really love getting their pictures taken with the car. I let one lady, about my mom's age, sit in the car while having her picture taken. She said her grandson was would get a kick out of the picture. Some one the people that work there can be a bit rude sometimes, but the tourists are great. I think I met BB there for the first time.
