check the cable going from the control to the heater core...that cable is what accuates the door to allow air past the core. There is a clip the cable sits in and it sometimes comes off.or if pops off the lever for the door. if you pull the glove box out you should be able to see the cable :) let me know if you need more help

In my [ast experiences, when a heater core goes out, it literally "goes out". Like all over the floor in antifreeze goodness. have you worked anywhere around the heater controls?

yea exactly.. .lol those are always fun when people tell me that when they go to the shop and i tel them the labor to fix it. . ..they walk their asses right back out the door saying "this is FL you don't need heat here anyway ill bypass it" and im like ok when its 20 deg on a jan morning you'll have a lot of fun

i hear that. with proteges though, it is probably a cable that came loose or broke.

i checked the cables this morning, and all looked good, had my mechanic look at it, and it even dazzles him. all the fuses are good, we changed antifreeze again, replaced fuses, and redid the cable, but still no heater. this is makin me a little angry.

when you turn the knob from hot to cold does the other end of the cable move?if air is blowing through the the only thing keeping it from being hot should be the door to the core.

the is a break down of the unit...you have the core...the a door that opens and closes And the lever on the side of the unit controls it. if you push the lever to the firewall you should have heat..... i think.... it might be to you havent played with one in a while. if you follow the cable up about 6in you should see a clip.make sure thats on the cable.

Ive been there....... thats where I got my first set of tires...... blew threw those Fusion POS pretty quick. course I seem to be killing tires left and right lately from nails and for some strange reason bolts......

guess it is good for matts sales though.
