well apparently i went to my local dealership and took a look at the 2006 Evo 9 line up. they had 2 MR's 2 SE's and the rest were the regular 9's.

tell ya the truth, i liked the damn cars. they have a unique look compared to the EVO 8's. they have a different lipkit and windsplitters, a couple extra features i read from the paper on the window. i really liked the damn car.

i'm going to test drive it tomorrow. they're asking 37k for the MR and a little over 30K for the SE's.

i can afford either or, but i don't know if i should get rid of my speed. so spicy and nice, i've hooking it up all by myself. i feel like ima throw all my pride away. i dunno, its only $200 more a month than wat i pay right now. so its not tooo bad.

Hard decision dude. You know when you test drive it, its gonna be 10x harder, right?

Id say my situation was kinda similar. Went from a modded protege to my sti. Its a much bigger jump in everything than you, but still...I love my new sti. I dunno man, go for a drive, and see what happens :)

If after the drive you KNOW you want that car over your msp, go for it. If you're hesitant about ANYTHING though, stay on the mazda side :)

Make sure you get your car to someone who will appriciate it, please. :)

I havent been real impressed with the evo 9's. I know they made a lot of improvements but talking to the tecs at mitsu they are seeing twice the problems with the 9 than the 8. mostly with the drivetrain. the evo's are sicks cars and huge money pits.

my buddy was telling me all these things that were wrong with the evo's. like crank walk and watnot, he said they are good cars if u can afford to do everything right.

Dont do it!!!! ..... i know as a performance car the evo might set a higher bar but think about it...thats the only bar it will ever really set. THE CAR WAS BUILT ON A RALLY INSPIRED FOUNDATION for christ sakes so if you really want a car that everyone knows is pretty fast when they see it then go for it but if you want a sleeper that is indeed fast and sexy as hell ( expecially the interior ) keep the msp6.... it loves you

:wink3:

i was goin down that same path. i was goin to sell my msp and buy a evo 9 mr, that was until i found out that the insurance on those cars are the highest on the list. it was goin to cost me the same amount for the insurance as it was the car payment. so i traded my msp in for a ms6. o well.

msp to a ms6 is a good step though

well my buddy has the evo 8 and I love his car! he has not had any issues other than he tends to go threw lots of tires. other than that he has had it for a few years and 0 issues. treat it good and it will treat you good. I dono bout the 9 though. the 8's I give 2 thumbs up! the car is faster handles like a dream and you dont have to do very much to it if you just want a fast good looking car. my buddy at this point has body kit and lots of things done and will soon have a buschar crate motor putting down just shy of 700 whp. plus spray and well you do the math lol. the awd is the **** but makes it really hard to work on. to do the clutch hahahahha good luck with that one if you are just the average joe! the msp will be easy to work on but you wont see as much bang for the buck :( as much as a hate to say it the evo is a better car. so if you drive it and have to have it. well then there ya go. but if the spicey is still your taste then keep it mazda. but if you are gonna drop that kind of bank why not get a rx7 and if you really feel frisky then do the ls1 swap :)

How is the EVO more bang for the buck? Add 10 grand to the MS and it will spank the EVO.

2NR

when you compare cars, you should do it from factory specs... ya you could add 10 grand to a ms and get ahead, but then you'll run into an evo with 10 grand into it and possibly get spanked....

Ryz

It still doesn't add up to "best bang for the buck" when it's 10 grand more for the initial car.

2NR
07-23-2007, 09:56 AM
but now you could easily get one for the initial cost of a ms

Ryz
07-23-2007, 09:58 AM
Yeah, and the MS will eat the model that costs the same amount, so what's the point your trying to make?

2NR
07-23-2007, 09:59 AM
I am talking about a used evo... no eating there

He's talking new, so your comment is misplaced.

2NR
07-23-2007, 10:01 AM
but you want to talk about new... you can't get a msp new anymore..

but you want to talk about new... you can't get a msp new anymore..

WTF does this have to do with anything?

2NR

you are sitting here arguing about new stuff... saying how my comments are misplaced because I am talking about used... well there is no new msp's new out there. Actually I am going to stop this because it feels like I am talking to a brick wall on the subject

in a straight line, yes. lets talk auto-x or roadracing evo>ms3

no worries though, it just prooved things about the evo...

when I said bang for the buck I ment that the evo is one hell of a car. yes the price tag is bigger but look at what more you get for that extra money. there is not to much left to want on a evo unless you are going balls out. im sorry but when racing seats and BREMBO's come stock that isnt to shabby. yes it may cost more but it has much more to offer stock for stock the the msp. I Like the msp and all but they are not even in the same class as an evo. if you got the money to drop get one. I couldnt do the mr I like my options. my buddys evo he got the one below the mr so he has no cruze but he does have ac. then there is the 3rd one that has cruze and blah blah blah and I would go with that cuz I like all the goodies :) so if you got the bank for it then go for it! you will love the evo! but you could get the sti ;);) I just love the sound of those! :)

over in my area, we have a bunch of evo's with exterior mods... and intake and exhaust mods. that it... yea, and they think there badass..

i can't wait to complete my msp and whoop there ass's. i hate ppl that just sign over a check and buy a fast car and think there the ****. then they do small mods and act like they have 1000hp and ****.

boy i can't wait!!! wish i won the lottery. i would come down to florida for every event! lol.

small mods on an evo still will proove a great fight for a heavily modded msp though
