well as you probably already know my dad has an 04 sti, with a few mods but nothing to increase power. whats a good build path for an sti. is it worth it getting an intake of any sort for the sti or is the factory one more than adequate. i really like the idea of the turboxs stealthback, has anyone had experience with that? it seems like a good mod that will increase hp and wont change the sound too much. any advice would be helpful so i can push my dad further down the modding road.

Hmm - There are a FEW intakes out there for the STi that wont throw you a CEL or really fork up your A/F ratio. The Sti MAF / ECU is very picky about the specs on the air its getting. I know Perrin makes a short-ram that works well w/ the scooby.

As far as a modding path...Id say look at a full Turbo-back exhaust, TurboXS is a good company, havent heard one in person, but Ive heard good things about them :). Theres a couple of other exhausts that will get you gains but leave you with a near-stock sound. After your intake, TBE, look at getting some type of engine management or at least a tune. Cobb is releasing their next AccessPort soon, really easy to use. You plug the device into your OBDII port and just upload a new map/settings to your ECU.
Past that, you can look @ suspension upgrades, etc (was it you guys that AutoX?)

Heres Cobb (http://cobbtuning.com/categories/?id=2208) - Check out that page, its their stuff for the STi.

When they release the new AP, look for their packages, Stage 1, 2 etc. It usually consists of everything you need to get a certain amount of gain from your car. (IE, stage 2 comes w/ the AP, software, TBE, etc)

EDIT - Oh, forgot...if you're looking for other options/to go bigger, you might wanna look into a bigger TMIC, or FMIC, and/or a bigger turbo :D. (more turbo lag? ha)

DOUBLE EDIT - :D Just found THIS (http://www.streetunit.com/TBE_WRX_p/tbe-wrx.htm) off the SU website...That's pretty much a steal for that TBE! :) TurboXS Turboback Exhaust - Including: Downpipe, High Flow Catalytic Converter Pipe, Mid-Pipe, Rear Muffler Assembly, and Installation Hardware. If you were looking at that exhaust, Id give the guys a ring and ask them to get this to you asap :D.

Don't forget that everything you need is still available through SU even if its not on the website.

ok, thanks guys for all the advice. yea we autox alot, my brother lured us into that world. hes the true car guy in the family, hes got a 95 m3, possibly getting into a 3rd s2k, 1971 240z, 88 accord w/a trailer hitch haha, and a 510 shell in his garage w/the parts all over the house. he's helped me install just about every install and we've spent many long nights in his garage working on the msp.
i think ill push my dad to get an exhaust, i think thats the most appropriate first mod for an sti. plenty of gains and it gives it the rumble it deserves.
