yes I am I would like to do it myself but my pops aint gonna let that fly. So I would have to take it to a shop. How much do you think I could get for my auto trany?

I will give you double market value for you trans....... how does 10 shiney pennies sound?

doing a swap is rather expensive if you have a shop do it. this includes doing a Drive shaft swap and cutting the firewall to add the 3rd pedal.

there are guys on floridadrift who will do it for ya pretty cheap last I heard.

pulling the motor and swapping it over isnt simple and requires new ECU and such. Most will just spend the extra few bucks and swap the motor all at the same time. doing a complete RB20 build on there would not cost much more than what it would cost just to swap the trans. In the end is much more fun too.

also if you do one before the other when you do the motor swap you must then change bellhousings or get another MTX to replace the one you already have.

for what it will cost ya...... have a friend who knows what he is doing help you do an SR20, RB20, RB25 or maybe a CA swap and you will spend about the same amount as it would cost for a shop to do it AND you will get the opportunity to learn about the car.

the complete swap including new 5speed in gabby's S13 was cheaper than what it would cost just to outsource the parts and pay someone to do it....

course she lost .6L of displacement and added a snail ;)

PS even a rebuilt Auto trans isnt worth 10 bucks.....

im not even sure what to say to that..lol Not gonna do a swap tho would be a waste of money considering the money I could have used to do the swap went into getting this with such low miles would be stupid of me to do a swap on it.

dude, don't listen to ish like that ^^

Nice ride, all i'd do would be to do the manual conversion and throw a snail on that ***** and call it a day....KA-T > CA's all day...lol

manual swap and turbo the motor, t3/t04 of some sort and push near 300whp no problem. then (not sure if it's an se or not) but weld the rear end and go slideeee!!!!

i have a buddy up here that just finished a s14 ka-t setup (in an s13) and pushed 296whp at 10 or 12 psi tuned. if that's not the route you wanna go, rb26 motor, with the rb25 equals the sex!!! lol, but alot of money.

anyway, have fun with it, 240's are nice and easy to maintain. and those 'truck' motors can handle a massacre of a beating.

why not throw an ls1 into it? :D

'truck' motors can handle a massacre of a beating.

for a month or so............ unless you throw nearly 2k just in rebuild. then another 2200+ on a turbo kit(more and better off it you piece it together) THEN you have another 1000 in standalone and tuning minimum.

Ive seen way to many get run into the ground just weeks after boosting without going low comp first. easily spending what it would cost to get it down to 8.5:1 you can order and entirely new motor and trans.......... Then you spend a few more bucks rebuilding it to factory spec and run a FMIC which you would do on a KA-T and you are still FAR FAR ahead.

uhhhh if the car blows up after a month then it's tuned for sh*t. the near 300whp i know of has been built like that since last spring and it's an exhibition drift car that LOVES the limiter. a diy turbo kit can be done for about 1500 too, or less, easily. and as for an ems, he runs an safc2 without any problems, although you can get something cheaper like an emanage setup.

i agree that you can get an sr20 or rb20 for just a little bit more, but the swap may be difficult for most, and deemed impossible by some.

if you cant be doing the swap........ god help you with trying to build a turbo kit and say good by once tuning is an issue.

swap vs build- the only difference(if any) is that the wiring harness changes. everything else from pulling the motor to pulling it apart and putting it together are the same, the only difference is with the swap you have an extra motor at the end.

yeah i know what you're saying, but i've seen people that are completely dumb founded when it comes to swaps lol. i had an rb20det in a 91 fastback and the swap on those, though it's slightly harder than an sr, is quite easy for the most part. but most people don't care i guess, they'd rather spend the money. putting a turbo kit on a ka though, at least in my opinion, doesn't look so 'intimidating' i guess you could say. only real hard part on that is really just tapping the oil line, and coolant if needed. either way, 240's can be done to the max.

on another note, is it an SE? se is the only one that came 5 lug with an lsd...if it isn't an se, do a z32 brake upgrade (i did that on mine, easy and damn is it a difference in brake feel and BETTER, period!) and pick up a used lsd rear end, or weld it (not suggested unless you want the car a pure drift car hahaha).

why not throw an ls1 into it? :D

cost..... most spend an average of 12k minimum on the swap. the crazy thing is it weights about the same as an SR (30 pounds difference IIRC)

Yeah its not the se...def do the 5 lug conversion with 350z brakes. only plan on doin that, wheels tires, coilovers, replace rubber gaskets, exaust, and paint...so far even then im lookin at 5 g easy. the swap will be down the line if I dont do a rebuild unstead, from what ive read about the ka's they can take some abuse, expecialy with good internals. So just waitin to see what happens with it.

yeah hinson supercars does builds with all of their kits for around 8.5k on the s14's, then you need a mint ls1 setup to give them though. i would love to have an ls1 fd3s though...dream car

Ive seen a couple of RB swaps but not any SR swaps. But i saw in an issue of Super Street some drifter swapped an F20C into an S13.
