I have had the Hotchkis rear sway bar installed on my MS3. I've tightened everything down and used lock tight. It sounds very clunky and loud like metal hiting metal when i go over bumpy roads. I had this happed to the stock sway bar. The dealership tightened the link that holds the end of the sway bar (sorry i dont know the real name for the link) and it fixed the problem. So i tightened the hell out of everything and its making the same sound.
Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do to fix it? Or is it just going to be loud from here on out?
I also have the Front sway bar but am waiting for the H&R springs to get off back order to intall them together.
Thanks

The part I am talking about is atatched to the end of the sway bar and pivits to alowe motion. It has a bolt sticking out that goes through the hole of the sway bar. This is what was making noise when stock, then dealer tightened it. I have wrenched the crap out of all conections. I dont know how the noise can be comming from there.

Man I hear you.... I got all kinds of noises... I got a clutch that whines for no reason every once in a while. My damn exhaust hits the bottom of my car from time to time....oh and I let some chick drive my car and she left the E-brake on for over 5 miles..... Cut 1/4 grooves into my back rotors...lol... the things us guys do for a little bit of tail....lol.... Rotors and Brakes are not covered under warranty so 500 to fix...lol I could have bought a hooker for less...lmao I would not worry to much about it.. If it starts cause a problem then have it checked out by someone you trust not the stealership.. I have had sways before and I know that they can be noisey...I don't know how well it would work but if you are hearing metal on metal then try and insert something small in between to try and deaden the sound. If it is two big it might effect the performance of the sways so be careful.... Damn women... love'em though...lol!!

when you tighten the nut on the endlinks, are they just spinning, or are you actually torquing the hell out of them? if they're just spinning, you need to use an allen wrench to hold the bolt into place and an open ended wrench to tighten the nut. i want to say that the spec on that is 40lb/ft torque, but don't quote me on that.
When you installed them did you install them when the wheels were in the air?

I have the Hotchins sway bars too. A little noisy back there. I sprayed the snot out of the rubber bushings with silicone spray and moved to the softer of the two settings and it seemed to help with the noise.

Man I really love this forum. You guys are great. now I now what and end link is. The rears look different though. And no the end link is not moving because I used the allen wrench. I dont know how many lbs of torque i've tightened it with. I think I will take it off, clean the grease and redo to see if it helps. Yes the wheels were in the air when i put them on.

I had 30k miles without the rear sway bar knock. Now I moved to the N side with many RR crossings. Rear sway bars are knocking. The hole the end link goes through is to large for the end link. I think I need to get steel sleves to put in. Has anyone tried this?
