If it is an AWD GST wouldn't that make it a GSX or were the GSTs the convertibles? Either way lets see some pics!

TurboRacerGSX

the gsx was AWD, GST was FWD wheather it was convertible or not.....as far as pics..... they dont allow pics to be taken. no car shows no magazines ,nothin. both cars sit on carpet in a garage, covered by a 100% silk sheet and get wiped down 3 times a week with cotton baby diapers.....i **** you not. you can eat off any part of these cars and they are occassionally driven.

that is understandable, keeps them rare. When I first bought my evo it I hardly saw any, but now I have on the milk man has one, my grandma has one, and I think Cullen just bought one for his puppy.

RS 2.0 FWD
GS 2.4 SOHC FWD
GST 2.0 turbo FWD
GSX 2.0 turbo AWD
Spyder (GS or GST) There were no production GSX Spyders.

I call BS on this one. Either you dont have your facts straight or these two guys are giving you a line of BS about being two of the only three.

A GST to GSX; There have actually been a few conversion made but you are telling us that out of the few (You stated 3) you know two people and they dont drive or let pictures to be taken. Ya right!!! Where is the proff that its an actual conversion of there are no pics, it could probably just be a built GSX. Anyone investing the time to convert a GST to a AWD would probably have taken a ton pf pictures and a huge amount of money to do it seeing as they would need alot of custom work.

The below link shows the conversion process so if there are only 3 then this guy would not be one of your friends since they do not allow any pics to be taken etc.

http://www.automotivearticles.com/AWD_Conversion.shtml

Your friends dont want to be copied? Im sure that they would be well known in the DSM community then; Seeing as they have done this without copying someone elses designs which are clearly on the internet and have been around for a while.

Check out this Spyder to GSX Spyder Conversion.

man whats your problem?...what i said is true and as far as you sayin you have to mod/cut/weld the car or whatever, it isnt true. if done right there are no mods needing done to the car to make it AWD. just because someone does something cool like that, doesnt mean every magazine, person,tv station or whatever needs to know about it, they choose to not do any of that. there not built GSX either....they are convertables.

stevEvo8
11-07-2006, 09:23 PM
No problem, Im just saying you dont have your facts straight.

I never said you had to cut or weld anything I just said there was alot of custom work etc and i posted a link to a how to; this helps to show that there is more than just your buddies out there that have done this and that anyone doing such a swap would probably have taken a few pictures of their cars. You stated yourself that there is no cutting or welding and that if done right; that would mean that its a straight swap? Then what have they done that would be copied.

You said your buddies were two of the only three out there but I clearly showed you two cars that werent your buddies that have done this work.

There are way too many in the DSM scene to have your buddies not known to at least a couple people or have any pics of their cars. A shot of the car would not reveal any of their work that could be stolen.

BTW I own a dimesional teleporter but I dont let anyone see it or take pics of it.

TurboRacerGSX
11-07-2006, 09:31 PM
these guys did no mods to the car whatsoever, i dont care what a web site says.....when these cars were built, there was 1 other. thats why i said 3 now.

stevEvo8
11-07-2006, 09:38 PM
Well Im just letting you know that the swap has been around for a while and I believe RRE was the first shop to do it a while ago and Im showing you that there is more information on the web about this swap.

There are more than 3 cars around with this swap and it sounds pretty fishy when someone wont post pics of a swap when claming to be 2 of 3.

Do a search for the Conversion and you will see for yourself. I remember seeing the site for RRE a couple of years ago.

TurboRacerGSX
11-07-2006, 09:41 PM
RRE is the ones that did it the first time. RRE also welded and cut the car to get it to fit. my freinds didnt have to do any of that. also if there are more out there, ive never heard of them so maybe the owners dont wan tthe world to know either. ive tried many times to get pictures but they wont let me.

Stevevo8, copy this post onto the DSM board and let us know if anybody else has done this. It's an interesting theory that you wouldn't have to weld anything to get the AWD to work. You would think that something would have to brace the rear dif., or does the rear suspension hold the whole thing. If the rear struts/toe adjusting links/sway bars etc are a direct swapout, maybe there is no cutting/welding. I dunno, someone let me know that knows more about the DSM products. I just try to ZOOM ZOOM around town.

No Pics Yet?

BTW... ive been in the DSM scene for over 4 years now..... the GSTs were made hatch and convertable, both fwd... gsx were only made hatch and are awd... the gst and the gsx both have the 4g63 engine... the rs and gs non convertable have the 420a NA engine, and the GS convertible(spyder) has the sohc engine forgot the model...... there were no spyders AWD... at all produced from the manufactures... and if it has a GST badge, it was built fwd... now the swap has been around for a while and this is posible without a lot of sweating.... lots of money tho..... if you dont believe me do some reading.... team-2g, dsmpurity, dsmtuners, even evolutionm.. google those sites and there you will find all the info you will need about the dsms (90-99 eclipses and talons and 4g63 non mivec evos)

.......but yea, pics please :)

^ +1...I live iN Mpls and the shop that tuned (correction, blew up) the MS3 have one sitting on the rack now. The brothers that own the GST got 450 to the wheels and snapped everything they could. They went and bout a junker GSX, stole the drive train, and (as far as I know) its a straight swap to get FWD to AWD. MAPerformance said 3 mos (weekends only) and theyll be done with it. I'll get picks when I head back over there (not on the best of terms right now), but I agree with blue....BS!

i hate to say this but theres no way on earth you could do a fwd to awd swap without welding or cutting(exhaust getting in the way of the secondary drive shaft rear axles..etc) do you really want us to believe that bs it took you two years to google a ****in picture?? look dude im not saying the car is crap or the shop im just saying your full of yourself. im sorry my posts can be deleted idc but youre full of ****. u show me how you did this fwd to awd without anycutting or welding or anything and i'll support your shop how about that? dont come to a forum where half of us are mechanics(auto technicians sry blue) and the other half are car enthusiats..but this is just my .02

a mustang rear end is a direct blot on to a focus..... everything is pretty much a direct swap, but the rear wheel base is a bit wider.

the sub frame for the GSX and GST/RS are more than likely the same as they all share a common frame. thus this does not sound overly outlandish. it takes more work to create mulitple mounts and several lay outs for a frame.

time to take a pill......

Ps who cares? this thread is like what 2 years old? does it really matter? I know people that can photo shop just about anything, this one would be pretty easy..... does it matter? not really.

2k8mazda6
06-30-2008, 11:59 PM
very true. im just saying that there would have to be some cutting and welding even the smallest stuff like new hangers not entirely the hardest job but that's like saying you dont have to do any welding to put an exhaust on..well the tip? the hangers to the new piping..its an old thread and should be shut down besides this a mazda forum lol

TurboRacerGSX
07-05-2008, 06:58 PM
ok first off i didnt google that picture or photoshop it. the guy is in germany, but on his way back here the end of july, ill get you more pictures dont worry. second i dont really care what you think, stay off my thread if you dont like what i have to say. i dont have a shop, it was built in my freinds garage. i was saying there no major welding involved. yea you need new exhaust hangers and whatnot but no body or frame mods need done.

why you being a jerk man, these cars are built to 500hp the right way and not off ebay or groupin parts together or hack crap to make it work. the guy takes care of his stuff whats wrong with that. if you dont have the money to do such things thats your problem, dont need to hate on others.
