Drift Car

I want pick up a car to drift in spring assuming I can get a new job by then, I want you opinions. The choices at this point are 86-91 RX-7, 86-92 Supra, 89-94 240SX, or maybe a AE86 Corolla.

I agree, however the problems are price and where to find one, from what i've seen, they are not easy to come by.

well with rx's you have to deal with the wankel engine...now i picked an 85 rx7 to build a project drift car with, but wanted to learn more about the rotory's, and i have time. if i were going to build one right now id look for the ae86...or the 240, if no corollas are around :)

I've got time, I won't even get the car until this upcoming spring at the earliest, I think I'm leaning towards the 240 or the AE86. like I said i'd love to get the corolla but they are rare, and that would lead me to think they would be expensive.

dunno about chicago, but here it seems the 240s are a dime a dozen, and you can find the ka or sr motor anywhere. with d-1 growing like it has in the last year i would say the extra time and money into a ae might be worth it, but regardless of what car either of us get...neither one is gonna be samuel hubenette in that damn viper lol :)

how bout a rhd 3rd gen rx7 twin turbo just as a starter :) that would be the top then going down from there unless you can dig up a '99 black on black s2k rhd

240SX, pumpkin-pie-patch, becasue of the fact that you are still in high school, you don't have a job, you have no income, and you have yet to win the lottery. This car is reasonably to buy and to mod up.

the supra is a easy mod car and cheap but your right on the 240 cheap and easy. with good drifting car too the spra is a heavy car and does cost more. the rx is and can be very expensive to mod and drifting the rx is a skill in its own the boost just is not there when you need it then alll the sudden too much boost...lol been there many times switching turbos along the way to get it just right. either way you got a good line up for drift cars s14 would be real nice you need one...lol

stick with the 240 and get the sr20det blue top and upgrade the turbo to HKS and work on the suspesion. www.jspec.com is a great web site for engines and parts. a buddy of mine knows alot about the car if you want i could ask him for yea and to get all the web sites he knows

the white car that i posted i belive has a det motor in it and price is at 7k shipped now i could be wrong becaus4ei go over prices all the time and motors all the time with him a 510 is a sick car to drift also.

me being a previous owner of an ae86, it was the best beginner drift car i had. and since i had no money at the time to upgrade the engine, i jus blew the old one out and sold the car.

How much can you find a decent AE86 for?

If you want to have fun and not worry about the car then buy a ae86 or a s12....both are dirt cheap like $500...you can find the s12 with a v6...lower it, weld the diff. and slide or die.I've driven my friends s12 and the car is fun as hell..very easy to drift. he had a KA24de in at the time but is converting to a supercharged 300z motor. it's gonna be sick....

+1 - Just remember that the new underdrive pulley probably won't give you enough power to brake your rear tires...wait a minuite...I mean probably wont give you enough power to brake your front tires loose...hey, you could always just DRFT in reverse!!!:biggrin3:

this months modified mag has a 240sx with an RB26DETT swapped in it. a very very sweet project if any of you get to read about the build up. total genuis work. no modding or cutting of the original framework either. also has the skyline AWD drivetrain installed in it. all the cars ive built in my time, i dont think i can match that one.
