We're gonna' need some serious dedication for that to happen, but it sounds awesome. Only problem is that Show entries can't do brackets. They can only get in the TnT. Maybe we get whoever isn't going to do brackets to rep SU and LMC in the show.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:24 PM
ill skip bracket racing. ill do car show. ill rep that ****.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:26 PM
can i do hot laps and the car show?

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 07:30 PM
if we all get judged before the hot lapping ends.

if anything at all, we need to get there super early so we can park in the pit area together, whether we are in the show or not, our cars will be seen. I've got cullen sending me some business cards and whatnot so we can stick them everywhere and rep SU.

I should be getting flyers soon too.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:36 PM
hot lapping is really appealing.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:37 PM
i have alot of their buisness cards already everytime i order i get tons of them. but more would be better.

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 07:38 PM

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:41 PM
i might have the new intercooler by then

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 07:47 PM

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 08:01 PM
sweet. well, i probably won't have any new goodies for awhile, that one rim set me back a bit. back on topic, let's work really hard this month to make sure everyone can and will attend.

this event should be huge seeing that street trends didn't happen this year.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 08:06 PM

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 10:39 PM
IIRC, 3 maybe 4.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 10:54 PM
you think they'd put us on togeather like if we had 3 or 4 people or how ever many they put on at a time if say like if me you suzy and say patrick wanted to do it

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 10:55 PM
Maybe, I'm sure we could work it out. They may only put out 3 of us for safety but I'm sure we could easily group together.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 10:58 PM
cool because id like to run it with people i know and suzy is down for running it with me and i guess who ever else would want to

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 11:01 PM
I don't really have the tires for it, I'd have to get my fenders rolled if I were to do it again. I literally ate my tires last time.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 11:03 PM
any road course will eat your tires

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 11:05 PM
btw ryan you feeling any better?

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 11:06 PM
Feel like ****, this road course is pretty nasty for a first timer. the walls of my tires looks like they went through a cheese grater.

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 11:12 PM
autox does that to mine a little bit

rynosilver3
01-21-2008, 11:13 PM

NOmz3
01-21-2008, 11:17 PM
Thanks. I advise everyone to bring stuff to wash their car with, drinks or a cooler of some sort, maybe a chair or two, cameras and if you smoke, smokes cause the concession stand their is EXPENSIVE!

Bring a helmet if you are racing as well. I will bring mine and let ya'll borrow, but if I need it I need ya' heard.

NOmz3
01-22-2008, 08:42 AM
OK, let's get meeting arrangements going. Should we all meet at exit 182 Donaldsonville/Sorrento at the normal spot? Who is going to lead the BR guys? I'm sure the Metairie/NO guys will be following me. Also what is a fair meeting time? I'd like to be at the gates around 8:30-9:00am, so 8ish?

Let's here what you guys think.

djkemistry
01-22-2008, 01:06 PM

We'll all be together, you know it!

I kinda' solved my wheel problem. Tried to order a replacement wheel but...ADR doesn't make it anymore so it's a 8-10 week special order...

So instead, I am going to repaint my two ADR mesh wheels and my two gunmetal 6-spoke knock off volks flat black. I'll be rocking the 6-spokes in the front and mesh in the back.

Or should I do this vice versa? Also, what should I use to remove the previous coats, sandblasting? I intend to make this a DIY job, and hopefully it won't look too bad...if anything I just want the wheels to be all a matching color...

jachung
01-22-2008, 10:59 PM
You do not need to sandblast them. Just get a corse sandpaper and sand the clear coat away. Other alternatine is to use a brillo pad and do the same. After that make sure you sand it smooth and apply some primer. If you can find primer the same color as the final paint the better. After that sand the primer again with a fine sandpaper and apply a thin paint coat. Sand it smooth again after 1 hour and repaint them. wait 24 until the paint is sticky and apply a thing coat of clear coat.

Jose, what if I am painting them Flat Black, would I need clearcoat?

Also, about how much does paint run? I've got 4 rims to do...this could take awhile. Anyone wanna' help?

jachung
01-22-2008, 11:15 PM
you need clear coat to protect the paint from the elements. Go to autozone or whatever other car shop and just get 3 cans of duplicolor flat black and 2 cans of clear coat. The also have the primers and dont forget the get a lot of sandpaper.. BTW, check your PM

NOmz3
01-22-2008, 11:31 PM
word, i heard from a couple of people that have DIY wheel jobs that they didn't use clear coat on a flat job and it turned out fine, and it has lasted.

other guys who used clear coat said it came out filmy and hazy. i think dupli-color make a wheel paint that can withstand the elements. the only real problem i see is the weather here. if the paint fully cures within 3-4 days without getting wet they should last...problem is will the weather stay nice for that long?

crunk6
01-23-2008, 07:36 AM
ryan as long as you do all your prepping right the paint will be fine, if you want flat don't put clear it will give it a gloss i don't think they make flat clear in cans. i'd get some 400 grit sandpaper to rough up the old rims, you have to take all the clear off the new paint won't stick to clear coat. This is how i would do it 2 coats primer let dry overnight, sand with 600 grit sand paper making sure it's nice and smooth, another coat of primer once set you can spray your color 2 maybe 3 coats, let the paint cure at least 24 hours before trying to put them back on it takes a week for paint to cure all the way, if you sanded them down the day before you could get them primed sanded again and put the color coat in one day.. thats just my two cents been spraying stuff a lil while, and if you want them ultra flat black just get black primer and leave that instead of a color coat. paint cost for duplicolor paint it's $5.44 a can just went buy some duplicolor primer is $4.44 i believe. you could do it with three cans primer 2 cans paint and have some left over, i'd stay away from the pressurized carwashes for at least two weeks after painted too. any questions i got you i'm da man when it comes to this lol

crunk6
01-23-2008, 07:39 AM
o... you can get them wet as soon as the paint dries won't hurt anything

and i can tell you why those guys clear came out filmy and hazy, they either sprayed to much clear on a cold day, cause when it's cold you have to be light on the coats, paint takes longer to dry, and you will get drips if not sprayed light, if the humidity is really high you have to go very easy on the clear, or just trying to drown the damn thing in clear. I can tell you that trying to paint what people like that paint is a major pain in the ass, they put 20 freakin coats of clear, or it seems like they put 5 cans of paint on it, like jose dammit it took me forever to get all that damn paint off but it's getting color put on it this afternoon

NOmz3
01-23-2008, 02:10 PM
word. i'm doing sanding today. then i guess saturday i'll prime and paint.

I will also be doing at least one road course run. I will also be showing, depending on if my damn wheels ever get here and if my car gets dropped and blah blah blah.

You can hear my car anywhere! What time are ya'll leaving, the more the merrier. There should be a good bit of Metairie guys following me out there.

We need to get a huge SU banner or something to hang in our pit. Anyone got one of those fancy tarp thingys they don't mind bringing along. Maybe we can get the track to let us set it up out there and chill under it.

Ok guys, I got 200 flyers for IFO in the mail a couple days ago.

Next time we meet, I'm gonna' give ya'll a bunch, or give some a bunch to one of ya'll to split up and distribute since I'm leaving for LA this weekend.

Ya'll should try and plan a KBL meet or something.

But by a show of hands...err...names let me know who wants some flyers to pass out and make this year's IFO amazing.

rynosilver3
01-30-2008, 12:59 PM

I am unsure about passengers during hot laps. One year they let it happen, the next they didn't.

I guess we will find out.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for IFO? I'd like to make this our biggest and best event yet.

Word! We'll all meet up and roll to the track together. I would show my car if I had a new windshield, the crack is spreading bad!

The wheels look good BTW Jessie, thanks for the help.

I botched one area but I covered it up pretty well and you really can't tell unless you are like 5 inches away from it.

it's $50 for 3 pulls on the dyno, eff that.

i may do one session of hot lapping, IDK yet. i'm definitely going to do the TnT drags, and may consider the bracket depending on how the car is running. Anyone going to have a car that won't be doing much? So I can dump my spare, tools and what not?

My bad. Totally forgot, I'll get you one. I had meant to give you one before we left, but the sun had gotten the best of me and I just rushed home to rest.
