If someone doesnt agree with your opinion they can give you neg rep. Which makes you look bad. There for people might not listen to you when it comes to something that you actully do know something about. For instance.

If you got a rotary question. Chances are you will ask the people that actully own them. And not someone that has never had the slightest idea about one. But if he has alot of postive rep and the other guy has negative rep which one you going to still listen to?

I don't think anyone actually using the rep thing to listen to your word though... basically everyone will get their idea's and thought's about other member's info on their own... if you seem like you are full of it then they are going to think you are, and vice versa...
