this will be my 4th(maybe 3rd I cant remember)? year going and showing my car.

I was hoping I could help cullen and the SU team a bit and see who is interested.

it is the superbowl of car shows. Last year we had a very strong showing and would like to pull together atleast that if not better.

whos interested?

last time we had a lot of 16 cars in the mazda booth...... 2nr made the drive down here, and had to burn off a decent amount of gas when he was rolling in.....

lol that was my favorite memory of that weekend. everyone had too much gas.... :)

I am definantely interested. But I won't have rims by then. Wish I could atleast get the FMIC in by then. but cash flow. isn't going so well.

there are some cheap good hotels around here (all depends on your budget of course..)

if not im sure that you can crash at somebody's couch from the SU family... im full that night... sorry that cuch cant be mine lol

about HIN.. i already asked for my car and the naswer was a big NO! lol... i could get some friends to lend me mods for the show, but still would be enough for what the SU guys ask for...

i will there no matter what tho ;)

Embassy Suites on International drive FTW!!!!!

Ektor
05-20-2008, 08:53 PM
bigjon if you are getting a hotel room.. i suggest getting it in a hotel that its not TOO close to the convention center.. not even in i-drive if possible... theres a decent hotel like 5 mins from where we live that has good prices.... its called Crestwood Suites.... google it lol...

if you stay there you can just follow us to the convention center or even ride with us... we live like 20 mins from the convention center...

2NR
05-20-2008, 08:55 PM
well, the embassy suites was 100/night and worth every penny... and walking distance to a lot of stuff

jroc

just get one room for everyone, cram everyone in, like 10 people to a room...everyone pitch in 10 bucks...and there ya go...oh, and bonding time.

i was let into HIN here in AZ with 3/4 tank of gas...but only cuz of the f-up they did last year apparently...we got special privileges. :)

jroc
05-20-2008, 09:04 PM
me too...i had just filled up before rolling in, no one told me about HIN's G.R., they told me i got an hour to burn off 3/4 of a tank...nothing like high rpm's on the highway in 3rd gear lol...then i got a call with 10 minutes left to get my arse back there...it was fun covering 10 miles in about 4 and a half minutes minutes :)

2k8mazda6
05-20-2008, 11:34 PM
well, strut bar, painted rims, (and possibly by the time of hin), header, suspension, and front lip...=5! haha. whats the cost and all that. and what are yall talking about with the gas thing? what do we do with the cars, im very inquisitive

jroc
05-20-2008, 11:36 PM
apprently, HIN is REALLY strict on you rolling in with only 1/4 tank of gas (if not 1/8 tank, i cant remember which one it is)..i guess its a liability issue.

zoom zoom maz6
05-20-2008, 11:58 PM
its 1/8 tank. it has to do with insurance and getting fined by firemarshal.

as for were to stay. we always stay here. walking distance and cheap as funk

So I guess I'll be fine, being that mine is not a MS3. Do need new shocks, front and rear bumper, and finish the body work, but with two months to go, should not be an issue. Oh, and if somebody wants to be really awsome and give me a CF lip, that would be swell too.

alright...i am thinking about trying to get a group of 4-5 SU cars that we will show with the whole bunch but actually enter as a "team" to try and beat team solo this year (very hard to do). I know we have a lot of new people. I am excited to have a larger showing than last year. Of all of you guys (alot of people I have yet to meet/talk to on here since i have been finishing up my masters program and have been swamped) who has a rather HEAVILY modified car?

Here is my car domain page to let you know what I am bringing to the competition (I will be hanging a dyno on my hood when its open that I will do in about 3 weeks on race gas and about 30lbs of boost to see if i can make almost 600whp for show - if i dont chicken out to run that much boost haha).

i dont want to come off mean. we want ALL of you guys involved in our showing at HIN Orlando this year. We do want to take about 5-6 cars that - like i said - are HEAVILY modified. We will all be showing together - right next to one another no matter who is in our 5-6 car team to try for best team...but the 5-6 members need to be REALLY modded.

I am talking - engine builds, turbo kits, paint jobs, body kits, rims, custom audio and video setups, suspension, racing seats, re-upulstered interiors, crazy lighting setups in the engine bay, headlights, tail lights, etc.

Alot of the competition we face are is300's with 80 grand into em - 2jz swaps, full body kits with crazy clean paint jobs, huge custom stereo installs, etc. For rexample...MY CAR DOESNT COMPARE TO THEM in my eyes. I will never turn people down to show with us. We all have a common interest - making our cars unique! That is why we have procured so many spots for SU to represent. This is a personal thing i am trying to put together to see if we can beat some of these teams that always win.

bigjon_04
05-24-2008, 04:09 AM
Yeah, I'm with Ektor, I have hopes for next year too. See the way I see it, the judges should also take into consideration the available aftermarket parts for each make of car. Right now there ain't as much stuff for the Mazda 6s and 3 and MS3 and MS6 as there are for the others. So when you see a built 3, like Jakes, or a built MS6 like Cullens, those are the ones I think deserve more credit in the tuning world.

Ektor
05-24-2008, 03:17 PM
Im sorry to say thiS, but you are wrong...

90% of the cars in HIN have parts that werent even made for that specific cars... its all about customization... in the "high modded cars" 80% of their parts were custom made for them.. thats what makes them different, thats what makes them unique, thats what makes them win stuff in auto shows. Or else ask jake how much stuff that is in his car was "made for" the mazda 3 NA? that built motor wasnt a "kit" that he bought, nor that turbo system, not that audio system, nor those train horns, you follow?

not trying to sound like an a$$hole... just trying to clarify one thing. Having all the available parts for your car in tha market, doesnt make your car "heavy modded" ;)

Any of you, with the needed money, could go out there and make your ms3, ms6 or regular 3 or 6 a beast like jake did... it takes a lot of time, money, downtime and research. Thats what makes you win a category or a show: the drive of being different and going that extra mile to make it possible :)

actually to tell you the truth, they don't care about parts availability either... they just care about what is on the car/who made it/and how the install looks... all HIN is are just some checks in the block for the judging... actually now, it almost isn't even up to the judges anymore because they use PDA's and answer questions on it about your car when they are judging you. but this way is really the only way to keep things pretty much fair in the NCCA world. (Unless you lose to a damn RX-7 that doesn't even belong in your class GRRRRRRRR)

Guys it is very simple... You dont need to be with SU to be in the show.. it is important for you guys to understand that all you have to do is fill in the application and pay the entry fee (you would have to pay for it if you are in the mazda or SU booth anyways) and you are in!

all you really need to do is to have the requirements stated HERE (http://www.hotimportnights.com/media%2Fevents%2F352%5FMinimum%5FRequirements%5Ffo r%5FCompetition.pdf)

after you have the requirements knocked down, you are free to apply and pay the fee and you are in... visit www.hotimportnights.com (http://www.;hotimportnights.com) for more info ;)

i dont want to come off mean. we want ALL of you guys involved in our showing at HIN Orlando this year.

Jake ... tell it like it is HAHA

Anyways

Just want to mention that I'll be there in attendance :D LOL not that you guys care. I know MOST of you dont know who I am but I've been to the No Snow Cruise and I'm just looking forward to see a nice turn out of Mazdas at HIN Orlando this year.

yes, yes I am. Maybe in the future (far, far, far future...faaaaaaaaar) I might do a two tone color scheme, gunmetal and black mica. Cause gunmetal=secks.

Broken, exactly what kinda body work are you havin done?

:sighs: well....

fixing the severe curb rash that cost me a passenger side skirt, a huge dent on the lower portion of the body, a dented door frame, and a lot of PITA
Fixing my front bumper, that has seen more parking stops (those little cement things on the parking spots) than jenna jameson has seen....well, you know.
Some kids shot my door with BB guns. Fix0rin.
A pole jumped in my way, full purpousely, and busted my rear bumper, and made a basketball size dent on the rear bumper More excuse for me to get the Speed3 bumper:D
My brother dropped a tool box on the fender. Nice little gash there, about an inch long. Also a truck flew past me on a curve, and its cargo was rocks. a few of them flew out. You can make out the rest.
Knicks, scratches, here's and there's. My g/f and her spike belts.
Somebody tried to pry open my dorr, and there's a few gashes on the door sill and door jam. get those done.
Shark Fin antenna.
CF lip and canards.I think thats about it. I know more stuff will come up as I strat fixing, but some of it has to wait. I want an awsome looking car for HIN, not a competition level one. As long as I represent strong, thats all it matters IMO.

I would be leary about doing anything with a really low car or with lots of ground effects. there is plenty of time to detail btw friday night(you can be there till 8PM) and you have from 2-5PM sat when you can go in and do final touch ups.

As you guys know Mazda may not have their big booth at the show like they used too.
The dealer where I bought the car Cori Fairbanks is give me some support with partial sponsorship.
The managers from the parts and customer services will come to the show.
Do you guys see any need for me to ask them to extent discounts for parts and services for all of ya?
I know dealers are difficult to work with and we may need some inside friends.
They seem very receptive to promotional ideas and I may be able to talk them into it, but I want to make sure you are all ok with it first before I ask.

Jake
06-04-2008, 01:05 PM
Fairbanks blows man. I am glad they are helping you but jason baggie of montgomery mazda will do better pricing than they will. he is a good buddy of mine and just as close with cullen and the crew. anyone associated with us gets good discounts through him. fairbanks will void warantees for playing your music too loud haha...luckily i found a tech here that still calls my car under warantee :) hehe but the more dealers we have on our side the better i guess :)

supermex
06-04-2008, 01:49 PM
Good to know.
I had a good relationship with them because I was well recomended by Ultimate Audio another sponsor of mine.
I understand they are under new mangement and will be stocking up on speed gear and some parts.
Is my experience that all dealers will let anyone down when it comes to expensive repair due to aftermarket parts.
I'll check out classic and montgomery as wll but as you said the more the better.
I have a lot of MS3 dudes I know that had told me that SU blows and all that and told me so emphaticly, but my personal experience with them is a very positive one so far.
So it all comes up to individual experiences.
I guess our advantage would be that we'll have more choices as we can compare all three of them in price and services and flexibility with warranty issues.
If one turn us down we'll try the other.

Why my name got taken off?

Zoom zoom quoted an earlier post before you put your name on about the same time you did. I suggest you put it back on again. No one took it off, it was just a coincidence that you both put your names on at the same time.

Thanx for the nice thoughts, its nothing new this is her third round of chemo in 9 yrs for ovarian cancer. (which means that she has already survived longer than the average) The doctor is very optimistic but the chemo tears her down and she also has Macular degeneration which is where she's slowly going blind. So with that put together just makes it so I'd have my mind on her the entire time I was gone.I hope yall have a good showing for HIN have a great time there........take a lot of pics.

Guys. Huge favor to ask of! :) Does any know of any mazda3 sedan owners who want a new front bumper. It's sunlight silver and has a custom GV lip molded to it so its one piece. You have all seen it on my car. I need to sell it asap.

Sorry I haven't said thank you to the people that have been sending their best wishes and prayers this way but I've been a little busy with mom. She doesn't start her chemo for another week yet but she's been a little nervous and I guess it has more to do with going through it for the first time without my dad than with being scared. But she's a tough old girl and with all the positive energy headed in her direction I have every confidence is going to be fine...........once again thanx for all your well wishes and prayers........some people don't think they help but I believe in prayer and I have to believe that sometimes even wishes do come true.

HIN shows are always saturday nights and vehicle drop off is the friday night before...

for some good info: www.hotimportnights.com (http://www.hotimportnights.com)

Does this mean we have to drop off our cars Friday Night before HIN? I was going to be out at Disney that weekend and wanted to hit up Speedworld whlie I was out that way. So if you want to show your car at HIN, you wouldn't be able to go to the track, or do they have a cut off time when you can drop it off? Besides, the decision between HIN and Speedworld, I believe my wife would definately pick Speedworld (models + cars = jealousy). Besides, it's suppose to be "our" weekend, but yet we are still going to the track. =)
