View Full Version : I could use some help
I have 2 subs, amp, and capacitor that I took out of my old car, and I was wondering if someone can help install in my MS3? They are monster 10s, JBL GTI series 3000 W max subs with a GT 1200 W amp. I was looking to sell them but could not find any buyers, so I guess I will keep them and upgrade my stereo. I am looking for someone who does custom install or fiberglass work, with enough experience that my car wont get screwed up in the process. I actually instaleld it in my civic myslef, but afterwards I had broken plastic pieces and cut wires, and I am not going to do that again. I would like to maybe put a second battery in with a solenoid so that the alternator doesnt get fried. Also, I think 1 ten would be enough. But I would also like to keep the functionality of the hacthback, so a removable system would be good. Anyone have a system in theirs that has pics?

Gotta be careful there, I don't think you can do any aftermarket add on's to the bose system, if something should go wrong,it would really void your warranty.

you can with the boses, just have to wire it into the exsisting system and basicly use it like a jumper for the L and R audio. not too difficult.

the amp you have will have came with a set of wires about 4 inches long with a little connector on one side. (which will go into the amp) what you will do is connect thoes wires to one of your rear stock speakers then run that to the amp. that will eliminate the need to run RCA wires from your stock headunit to the back of the car.
DO NOT put a capactior into your car.
all you need to do is get a second battery ( red top will be perfect)
put that in the back run some 4 gauge wire from your main battery to the one in the back-through the firewall and under your trim pieces. hook that positive up to the secondary batter and find a bolt on in the back and attach some wire for the ground.
easy half hour it will take.
oh and i say no capacitor because my buddy had one once and it blew up and destroyed his trunk.
Ok, aren't you supposed to use a solenoid also to single out that battery for juice to the amp?

Ask Seba he installed an amp and sub into his ms 6 bose system, check out the photo of his trunk in the Markham Park pics thread. Actually he does audio installation.

Any one have pics or has seen pics of a sub and amp in the hatch of the 3? I am trying to get ideas. I have a deep 10" sub so I know the sub in the side thing won't work. I am looking more for the stuff mounted in the spare tire well.
how deep? you are still going to run into some fitment issues if it is really deep
its really deep. like 10 or so inches. I know it might have to stick out from the floor, thats why I may have to use fiberglass or whatever to make a nice box.
that sounds like it is going to be your best option
OK, I brought my idea up to a buddy and he wants to know where to run the 4 AWG power wire thru the firewall, any ideas? He has done regular 3's but they were a lot more spacious in the engine bay! He just wants to know if anyone has done it, otherwise he will probably have to drill a few holes instead of one to find a good spot.
