I am ready to buy. $$$$$ in hand.......well card at least. Difinently need to do this. The MSP community NEEDS this. As of right now I believe there are 0 options for us cracked manifold guys. The problem with the mam product was the price. I personally am willing to spend that amount but alot of others probably arent. If you could produce a decent manifold for say around $600-$800ish. You should be golden.

So this will be made no matter what?????? I really want and need one. How soon do you see this happening. Just trying to get some facts straight. Want to know some specifics so that I can better spread the word. Mainly the fact that this will go through. I am a difinent buyer. Others just have a hard time commiting to something like this without specifics due to all the recent threads that dont seem legit. I am in Cullen.

I just spoke with Cullen, he says the turbo manifolds are far from dissappearing. Designs for the turbo mani are being finalized and prototypes are in the works. Pictures to come shortly after prototypes are finished. Target price should be under $475 and once the prototype is tested production will begin immediately.
What is going to help move this project along is a GI thread, letting us know how many we should plan on making, the more interest the lower the price!

You know, I was thinking. When mine cracked, I only had two options. Either buy one from MAM or get one from Mazda. Either way they were both over $800. I went with MAM, and have been pretty happy with it. I did have to wait several months to get it though, which kinda sucked.
But all in all, I'd have to say that since MAM is out the picture now, it would be a good idea if SOMEBODY made this for our cars. The Calloway p.o.s. cast iron one cracks. Mine cracked all the way down to the O2 sensor. So, eventually, alot of MSP owners will need one. So I would think that this would be a great idea for the community. The only thing is... if you model it ANYWHERE near what THEY did, PLEASE make sure that you make the nuts and bolts readily accessible to tools!!!! Mine are a b*tch due to the locations and how close the tubes are to them. So please take this into consideration.
I wonder how much of a gain is going to come from this...
MSpeed2397
02-15-2007, 11:04 PM
Yes, for sure, this is one of my main concerns...otherwise I'd keep mine til it cracked...
laracroft
02-16-2007, 06:36 PM
It's never good to keep it cracked. My crack started small and ended up being about 6 inches. Then there's the fumes into the cab of the car and the boost loss. Trust me, you'd want to get it replaced if it breaks. And the Calloway CANNOT be fixed. It's not stainless steel and cannot be welded. You will need a whole new manifold. I forgot what my gains were, but I think it was somewhere around 15-20 hp. I'm sorry that I don't remember specifically. But if it makes you feel better, it makes the car sound a little more beefy. Not like MUSTANG beefy, but you get my drift.
Shakenbaby72
02-16-2007, 06:41 PM
do you already have the upgrade intake and smic? cuz mine defintaly sounds stronger with it.. wonderin how much louder it would be with the exhaust mani

I have a FMIC and SRI from MAM.
msp35
02-19-2007, 11:51 AM
I was under the impression as per the other forum, that you can infact fill these cracks with weld.
Shakenbaby72
02-19-2007, 12:19 PM
im no expert but i would imagine haveing any engine component cracked is never a good idea.. even if it could be welded. i would think the integrity of the rest of the metal would be compromised. welding a motor mount would be one thing but something that keeps the engine running properly is another... thats just my opinion..
I don't think you can weld cast iron though
kys10x
02-19-2007, 06:37 PM
you can weld casting but you have to preheat with at torch then stick weld it with a nickel rod (ibelieve thats right) in my opinion its not worth it. i want to buy a new one!
ya a ss tubular manifold ftw

You're exactly right. It's not say that it can't be done, it CAN. HOWEVER, no shop can guarantee that it'll work and it will cost you about $250 to do it. It's not stainless steel.
Cast iron comes in a mold and made at a certain integrity. Once it's cracked, that's it, you can't get it back to that certain temperature and hope that the weld holds. Most shops will not even entertain doing it either. But a stainless manifold one can be welded if it cracks with very little effort, most shops will do the work-they will stand by their weld and it's not alot of cash.
Trust me, I researched this before I bought my MAM one.

Oh I well be waiting. I have bought almost everything on my car from you guys GHL exhaust, exedy clutch, and lots of other stuff. What kind of finish did you say it was gonna be Cullen? I am kinda wanting a really nice stainless finish. I have a couple friends with apexi headers on there hondas.
