So last night me and a friend went for a run in my car, just doing some pulls, going on this windy road, having fun. So anyways, I let my friend drive, and he drives an Si, and has a different driving style than me. He keeps it in low gears throughout 30/40mph to get strong pulls, while I baby the engine a bit, and only downshift into a lower gear when I'm ready to go for a pull. Anyways, so you have that bit of background...
Today on start-up I noticed the start-up was a little rougher than normal. Then when I shut off the car I noticed that this was also rougher than normal. It sounds like the engine does a little shake under the hood before it completely shuts off. I was worried that the side mount might be giving in, that's why shut down was rough? So on the way home I have the volume on mute listening closely to every sound my car makes...So I rest my foot on the clutch and notice a little vibration. It disappears when I depress the clutch but is there when my foot is resting. I put in my SU MM last week, so I can't tell if the vibration is from the MM, or from the engine.
I am thinking about bringing it to the dealership to get the TSB reflash and fuel pump, and see if that will help anything. But before I go back to stock and do that, IF I do that, I wanted to double check here if it's all in my imagination or if its possible that I could have bent a rod, or that she's close to blowing...HELP PLEASE!!!

mine does the same thing, i thought it was the clutch or something. It hasnt caused me any trouble though, and I had the dealer look at it as well. They said everything looked good.. I dont think your engine will blow btw. Its good to listen for noises, but dont let it consume you. I used to do that and it can get out of hand. Just enjoy the car and mod it according to risk factor for ya. You should always feel comfortable in your car and not worried about it blowing up

Yeah I feel you on that one. It's NO FUN at all worrying if this little noise or this little vibration means KABOOM anytime/anywhere...

SU motor mount will cause some vibration. I notice it at idle with the AC on. Its supposed to go away after the mount is broken in. Don't know if this is what you are feeling or not but I wouldn't worry too much.

lol, sounds like KAM is ****ing with you...
KAM = Keep Alive Memory...
being that you normally only drive roughly when you need/want to, but then went out for a day beatin on the thing, the car is programmed to change it's programming to fit your driving (i.e. more fuel, more timing) so now it's in "performance mode", it should go back to normal just by pulling the battery cable (or at least stock programming)...
if it doesn't return to normal, i'd revert to stock and take it to the dealer and say it's "acting up", they'll charge you with diag time, and find out if anything is broken, BUT they will notice that you had a day of fun (cars have "black boxes") and probably ask you not to do that, then probably tell you that you'll need a re-flash, and that driving that way continuously can void your warranty (they cover normal wear and tear, but if you're peggin' the redline, they'll drop you)

no problem, i didn't go to school for this for nothing, but if that doesn't solve it, say exactly what i said, and make sure the car is stock so you can claim ignorance when they come back and tell you about the driving style they pulled from the "Black Box"...

Listen for a clicking sound coming from the engine. It sounds like a quarter rapping on your hood, from inside the car. That is the dreadful sound mrlilguy and one other major player heard before the big bang. One local friend heard that noise and asked me to check it out. Now i dont know all that much but I recognized the sound as what mrlilguy was describing. I told him to get rid of the car ASAP. He managed a good trade on a 350Z track editionwithin a few days. Well, witin 1 week of the sell the dealer called him and was asking all these questions about the car that he sold to them. Turns out the motor ended up blowing up on a routine test drive.
You will always feel some vibration fro the clutch pedal, but you need to be looking for a rythmic "scraping" sound/feeling. The thought is that something is out of balance that causes the sound and vibration.

WOW, it's amazing how much that ECU reset helped. Car starts and shut down like the first day I got her now! Thank you for that tip! I did not know cars did that...
Oh btw, vibration in the clutch is near gone now!

btw you shouldnt rest your foot on the clutch pedal. ever. your either using your clutch or your foot is on the kick plate designed to keep your foot from resting on the clutch
thats good advice mach1steve gave you a lot of ppl dont realize how much ecu's in cars control everything! (its like the matrix....)

Mine has always been rough during shut down. And the vib you feel through the clutch pedle is just the rotating parts of the clutch. Dont worrie just sounds like your friend drove the car how it was ment to be driven lol
