Mike, it is a link to the same event on the Mazda6club forum. There is 14 members on that Forum who are interested in attending, but until the schedule is put out, we're not going to post anything on that sight. I contacted Neal, since I know he is 100% committed to this event, he came out to the Road Atlanta event last September.
Feel free to remove the link, he won't have an issue with it. I have advised him not to say anthing or post anything until everything is put in, place, planned out, schedule, etc.

Is there drinking allowed in the Mazda Corral? Because if there isn't, I'm just gonna do one of two things, based on my two past experiences at Sebring.
1. Get hammered in the "general dirtbag" area with all the rednecks, and pass out in a u-haul.
2. Get a VIP pass from one of my associates, and get hammered in the Chateau with a friendly and slightly eccentric older gentleman who turns out to be Dr. Panoz.
Either way, it's a winner.

I am not sure about drinking in the corral area, I would think that it would not be allowed,( Cullen verify this or add opinion), but since Mazdaspeed Motorsports and Mazda N.A. and Classic Mazda of Orlando are the sponsors of this, it would be discouraged. Out side of the corral, I see no issues, but remember they are here showcasing their products and vehicles.

A good friend of ours has told us she is back to compete in the SWC TC series. Mary Katherine will back this year to compete as the only female drive in the series, last year she drove the #94 Mazda Protege for Tindol Motorsports. Well, she is back and will be driving her brand new Mazda 6, prepared by Chris Tindol.
For you ladies who are attending, you can cheer and support Mary as she competes against the boys! Here's a link to her website

Ok I've been looking all over the place and I can't seem to remember where you had the information on the number of supertickets we can buy per car corral pass. I already purchased the corral pass and 1 superticket, but I'd like to get 3 more so our whole group can visit the hospitality tent and watch some of the race from there and still stay together.
On that note the super tickets say all access. Is this the basic all access with the regular admission tickets(obviously we also get corral access) or is this the true all access that lets us go in the tower over the start/finish also? Only reason I want to know is b/c a few of my friends race HSR and have a few seats in the box and said if we could get in we were more than welcome to come hang/drink with them inside.

alright got a proposition and need some help. i am going to the Sebring and i have my RB cat back exhaust but it arrived with a dent in the muffler.... if i file a claim w/ ups and have a new one sent it will be a few weeks before i am reimbursed and then another week to get the new cat back, which means I will not have it at Sebring when I go. I am contemplating whether or not I should bite the bullet and just keep it, or whether I should wait and not have it at Sebring and have a new one sent. any ideas/suggestions?
if it wasnt so expensive i wouldnt sweat over it, but for the money i am unsure of what i should do :(

I had a phone conversation with Cullen today on the status of the Corral etc, looks like the majority of the tickets have been purchased, but we have a few remaining. Without getting into specifics, a number of early registrants backed out due to pricing.
As someone who has attended a number of these events over the years, I can tell you that you will never have access to the teams, drivers, engineers in any other race series! Nascar, can you access the garage? No! IRL, can you access the paddock? No Formula 1, for those have been fortunate to have seen an event outside the US, you can't even get close!
The point is this, $99.00 for a 4-day event, parking is free, lunch for 2 days, on the average the price to feed a couple for one meal is $15-$20, hospitality tent, with closed circuit viewing, access to the paddock areas of the Tri-Point and Tindol Motorsports Mazda 6's, a chance to speak to the owners, drivers, crew, take pictures of the car. possibly sit in the cars, Parade lap on one of the worlds premier track, two custom made T-Shirts, Mazda hat.
I find it hard to fathom that some feel that $99 is too much money! I can certainly guarantee that for those who are attending will never forget this experience, never! I am through or this could end up like War & Peace.
We'll see you at the races!

Raider,
So is there a limit on how may "spectator" tickets we can purchase in addition to the corrral pass I got for myself? I have 3 more friends with money in hand that just need to know if I can buy more for them in addition to the 3 I already purchased for those riding with me. Obviously they know they'll have to park out in general parking, we just want to be able to stay together in the hospitatlity tent and such...Its no fun if half of us can come to the ten to watch on the closed circuit while the rest have to fend for themselves.

Sounds like me and you had simular converations and reactions :D
This is the exact reason they keep the numbers down, because talk is cheap and its real easy to sit back and talk the talk..but walkin the walk well that is usually a smaller bunch!
Here's the kicker, if the space's are not filled how well does that sit with the sponsers...bottom line is participation is part of why they even want to do this stuff...Its hard to get people to understand that your only as good as your word.
I still think it will fill anyway, but it should have been a slam dunk..jump on it type of deal.

It's going to fill, no doubt in my mind, the mere fact that it came down to cost is a bit perplexing to me. We spens hundrerds of thousands of dollars on mods on our Mazda's, the Street Unit guys and other volunteers, put in their time, effort and money, along with the back of Mazdaspeed Motorsports, Mazda N.A. and $100 is too expensive, c'mon.
Let's be honest, or as my mother use to say, "excuses are nothing more than a dressed up lies", if you don't want to go, then say so. Nothing is free in America, nothing@ The mere fact that Mazda help offset the cost of the corral passes, says alot, the fact that Street Unit stepped up, Classic Mazda stepped up, says a lot. A lot of individuals made sacrifices to get this event off the ground, not just the major sponsors of the event.
This is the showcase event, the "Guinea Pig" for future events like this for the rest of the year. I know that this will be happening @ Mid-Ohio, Mosport, Road Atlanta as well as other venues, with ultimate "Mazda Corral" @ Mazda Raceway/Laguna Seca, where the idea is to have 100's of Mazda owners from across the country attend.
For those of you attending, my hats off to you, looking foward to the big party @ Sebring!

Hey 6waggin! Those are my pics from Mid-Ohio last year! LOL
In any event, having attended the Mid-Ohio ALMS meet last year I can testify that going to an ALMS race is an experience to behold. What makes the experience more special is that the Mazda Motorsport teams truly show their appreciation for your support when you attend the race. The amount of access thay they gave us in return (access to the drivers, the teams, the paddock areas, and the cars) was just ridiculous. I didn't expect the amount of face time we got with the drivers for example. It's really a win-win for all. It makes the teams feel good knowing that we're out there in the stands cheering them on, and in return we get face time with them to pick their brains and great access to their cars.
If I may put the pricing in perspective. Last year I coughed up about $100 for a weekday pass and a corral spot at Mid-Ohio. This year I'm coughing up the same $100 but i'm getting souvenirs, a hospitality tent, lunch for two days, etc on top of my corral pass and week pass. The way I see it, I'm getting more for my buck compared to last year thanks to our generous sponsors!
I'll conclude with a pic of some dude named Raynman. Posin' like he own Charles Esplenaub's 6 race car. Stupid goofy ass grin... LOL

well my 2 cents on this and the price is...
modders are usually 18-24 don't have 100 bux. Plus alot of us are coming from far away. my gas alone is going to be 500 bux pus food and beer and tent and all that jazz. this trip is going to cost me 1000.00 easily.
But then again i am 30 years old and make 6 figures. the average college student or modder makes about 25-50k and hasn't learned how to save yet. Hell i am almost 30 and i barely know how to save!!!!
So yes the price is cheap but for some nothing is cheap enough!
Another metaphor, yes i could afford a porsche but can i afford the maintenance and new tires and brakes and gas too? Hell no... frikken breaks on a cayman S are 1200 per 2 pads! (AKA ticket= porsche, maintenanmce = food, beer, amenities).
Oh well, more beer for me!!!!

Learned early, to set aside a certain percentage of my income, still carry thru with that philosphy to this day. I currently set aside 20% of my income from my pay check, in addition to my 401K investments.
Bought my first home @ 20, first car @ 16 with my own money. We base everything on our base incomes, not on o/t, commissions or bonuses. It has worked for me/us as we have it to where if one of us loses our job, one income can take care of all our expenses.
I would advise anyone to get a good financial planner to assist you , in your long terms goals.

we will get there Thursday morning afternoonish so says the plan. but we are camping too, so we will do our best to secure a nice big plot! I have no idea how this will work but regardless it will be fun!
When things go wrong they become even more memorable! That is my "glass is half full" philosophy!
Example i met my wife the day we buried my grandfather! I will never forget a single moment of that day from start to finish! hell it's been almost 2 years and i still remember what my wife was wearing that night. And that is good for a guy!

I would hope that they would get on board with the Corral, as Mazdaspeed Motorsports and Mazda N.A. is heavily commited to this idea and concept. I am really surprised at the lack of Miata participation too. I am sure the suits at Mazda won't forget who helped to make the event success and those who did not.

We'll be taking I-77 South to I-26 to I-95, on down to Orlando where we will be hooking up with Orlando folks, for dinner, etc. I believe Cullen, is going to PM/e-mail us out of towners to see if we can coordinate a meeting place.

the facilities aren't horrible...but they're also not the ramada...for the showers I recommend wearing sandals and you should be set(yes you'll need your own towel and soap/shampoo). Bathrooms aren't that bad, for relieveing beer bladder, but for "real bathroom use" I usually head to one of the restuarants down the road. If you do happen to get stuck having to use the toilets on-site, have tp, as 90% of the time there isn't any in the holder...

Not sure how many of you have been so I thought I'd throw together some advice for you first timers:
Clothes: It gets really hot during the day and pretty damn cold at night, I usually wear shorts and then bring jeans and a light jacket. hehe if you sweat like me deodorant and a new shirt might also be a good idea.
Food/Drinks: There are probably 40 million vendors serving everything on the main drag...prices are about the same as the fair. There is lots of alcohol to be had...if you know where to look you can usually snag free and/or very cheap drinks at the bicardi tents(if they come again). Also Coke is always giving out free coke products...last year I walked away with a case of 20oz vaults for free. Also about a 15min drive up the road you will find a ton of sit down restuarants and even a walmart(this will come in handy below).
Entertainment: There is TONS of stuff to watch, do, test, etc during the day. Makes & Models was getting all their trailers together, so I'm assuming they're coming down again, the army usually shows up, Bicardi should be back again, not to mention every high end mfg has a tent up with cars/engines/info/etc... And of course you'll have vendors selling everything from cell phone cases to autographed race helmets.
Pirelli Girls: Yes they are insanely hot, yes they give free autographs...and yes...cry a few of them are even married(or in the process) with kids.
The Pit/Hill/Island: This is the notorious party zone that lights up at night. Expect to find naked people(including large hairy men), alcohol, partying, music, and everything else a college guy would consider heavenly. This area is a party zone and does get a little interesting, so if you have women in you're group I'd suggest having atleast 3-5 guys to "escort" them should you decided to venture that way. Nothing dangerous by any means, just the typical Ybor city/spring break type of deal with some guys having a little too much to drink.
Bathrooms/Showers: Yes they have them, and yes they tend to resemble a 3rd world country. Showers are bearable with flipflops(but make sure to note the schedule, they generally only open up the showers for a few hrs twice a day). For you sit down guys and gals, well...bring tp...you most likely won't have any in your stall, and if you haven't perfected the art of hovering...you may just become a jedi this weekend. My advice would be to head into town and take a vacation to the local walmart should the need to #2 present itself...since you probably forgot stuff...like oh say chairs, this will be a good reason to go. I usually head to town around 6 for dinner, use the walmart facilities to clean up some and wander around in the a/c for a little while.
Supplies: Campers...well you should know what to bring...Daywalkers...CHAIRS CHAIRS CHAIRS..get the cheap $10 folding ones from walmart...trust me you'll thank yourself...aluminum bleaches are rather tough on the ass after about 5hrs..might also want to bring some suntan lotion for those of you pale folk. While I don't condone the illegal abuse and or smuggling of liquor into the track(hows that for a disclaimer), this will save you a small fortune if you want to enhance your race day experience. They generally don't check and/or care if you have a bottle as long as you atleast make the effort to A. hide it and B. don't bring some insane amount like oh say 4 gallons.
Corral Parking: Its hit and miss each year on how much of an ass the guards tend to be about the damn sticker thing...some yrs you can drive in with it just placed on the dash...other years they want it welded to the damn windshield...
Regular parking: In my opinion the best/cheapest area is the giant pasture on the rgt just before you get to the track. That is you'll turn rgt on the road that says "To Paddocks". Last year it was free and you come in right on the main strip(party zone on the map) by the corrals(porsche and corvette). Its a bit of a walk, and if you have patience you can wait for the shuttle...but it takes forever and you go right by the panoz school yard, so if you're walking you can stop and look at all the cool track cars

Is the caravan information posted yet? We leave tomorrow morning early, but I haven't seen anything about that. Also, not to be the bearer of bad news, but has anyone looked at the forecast. Calling for rain each of the days of Sebring, and then clearing up right after. How's that for lousy timing. :(

meh, it is Florida though, things can change in 5 minutes, so I am not too worried.

Perhaps, but it's actually a front that's moving through this weekend that's been drenching the rest of the country this week.
Also, along with caravan info, some phone numbers would be helpful in coordinating between parties coming from different areas.

so basically i have a huge mess on my hands....
my car is making a really screwed up noise...it's making a loud clicking noise everytime i start it and push the clutch. i am supposed to be going to Sebring tomorrow too and idk what to do. I am going to mazda tomorrow morning at 7 hoping they can see what's goin on, hopefully i just need a new clutch and its not the tranny. it stalled out for no reason while rolling to a stop sign, and i restarted it and it started that really loud clicking. it sounds like a really loud wheel of fortune spinning.
previously it would make a noise every time i took my foot off the accelerator, like a grinding noise kind of but pretty high pitched. and i think whatever that was finally went. http://www.mazdas247.com:8080/smilies/frown.gif i hope i can get it fixed so i can still leave tomorrow

Yeah, it was quite an adventure. It was a lot of fun though. Don't have the Speed Channel or I would have watched the rest when I got home. What happened at the finish?
