Care to give a write up of how the car performed on the auto-X?

The car ran really well at the auto-x. I was still learning the car at that point and only got a couple of runs in due to being in a wedding that weekend. I will give a write up after next weekend when we have our next auto-x and I am able to get some more runs in.

You gotta be kidding me. I have to compete against that in DS?

Any ways, welcome to the forum and enjoy your new MS3. Wish I could buy one, but the only way that is happening is if someone else totals my current MSP.

Ok so I had it out at the auto-x this past Saturday and Sunday. The car is amazing. On Saturday they always have the same course set up since it is a test and tune day so I was able to feel out the car a little. First thing I noticed is that the car doesn't rotate as easily as my focus did which could be due to the larger rear sway bar I put on it.

The second thing I noticed is that the stock tires make a ton of noise but they do seem to still grip. Having an LSD is nice to pull yourself around the corner. Learning to roll into the power instead of punching it is my next goal.

The car handles wonderful and precise has plenty of power in the short straights and the braking power to get it slowed down for the corner. I cut a second of my time on a 43 second course on my third run on Saturday.

On Sunday I was the only competitor in DS so I didn't have any one to compare my times to but I thought I did well.

I do feel sorry for the MSProtoges that are put in the same class, it seems that they would be a little underpowered. Even though a fast driver can even up competition quickly.

To sum it up this car is a great auto-x car stock. Two things I will be looking into are stickier tires and possibly a larger rear sway bar.

Then you wont be in DS anymore :p

I still think the MSP will be able to hold its own. We can pretty much argue that the suspension setups are awesome in both cars. The curb weight of the Protege is 2449, so with turbo and such it's probably around 2649. Mazda3's curb weight is 2930, so adding in the same for turbo and such should bring it to 3130. The power to weight retios favor the MS3 heavily. The MS3 is about 2.2 inches overall taller than the MSP, so you have a higher center of gravity.

It'll be cool to see them go head to head, but the ITR still owns DS in most places where people actually have them, and the BMWs still own it nationally.

Yep won the DS class this year, was easy no one else showed up.

I will be moving to STU this weekend since I put on the Cobb SRI and will have much stiffer competition. Still have to get some stickier tires, the stockers are getting worn down so hopefully by next month.

The car now has almost 34,000 miles and haven't had any issues. It is still a blast to drive every day.
