well theres got to be a problem with the cds...did you try everyone of your cds? if that's not the problem then theres a wiring problem or posible internal problem katie call bose or call mazda and ask them about possible troubleshooting problems with the factory head unit and aftermarket speakers

There's only one set of signal output wires from the head unit to the amp (it doesn't matter what the source is) so it has to be a problem somewhere inside the CD player. Could be anything from the laser lens to a chip not working right when you switch to CD as far as I know.
If you're still under warranty, take it to the dealer. If you're not, I'd be looking for a new head unit on EBay. If you're willing to risk totally screwing it up you could take it apart and see if you can find anything loose.

thats a big risk, considering her CD player and A/C controls are attached and funking one up can kill the other........ Im all for experiementing, but even finding the issue is probably more expensive than a new HU or a metra kit and aftermarket HU.

Yeah, definitely don't pay someone to fix it. Once you have a new head unit you can take the broken one apart. Then if you do fix it you should be able to get most of your money back selling it.
