so i traced the printed circuits on my old gauges to figure out my pinouts. it took me a while but was ultimately effective. I will write up the pinouts tomorrow for anybody else to reference.
this is where im at right now
hoooked up the battery, turned it on, and found a few problems...
fuel guage is pegged to the right with or without power, oil pressure jumps to over 100 when power is on, and the E brake LED stays on when the e brake is off...

today turned out pretty well-
i replaced a fitting and about a foot of brake line with a compression union and my brakes dont leak anymore. bled and filled, and replaced the master cylinder gasket.
after i got that out of the way i fired her up and pulled her out of the garage. Idled for a good 5-6 minutes, burned all the paint off the headers for good, and watched the temp gauge settle in at just under 200 degrees after the fans kicked on. My check engine light turns off when the car is running, and the E brake warning light is working now since the car drove, not sure why. Only problem is still the fuel gauge but im not worried for now, ill just get a full tank.
the car shifted nicely into first second and third, but reverse is a serious issue. It takes like ten tries to get the shifter to stay put when you start to release the clutch pedal. Most of the time is grinds and pops back into neutral...
possibly a reverse lockout problem? I havent wired anything to it yet, i assumed since it is disengaged with an open (0 volts) circuit that with no wiring it would be off all the time?
to do:
get it registered!
find a center console
button up the interior
get an exhaust built
get a front end alignment

i am lasering out a plexiglass shifter plate tomorrow (hopefully) since i drew it up in autocad this morning. other than that my glue will be dry tomorrow and i can officially wrap up the interior
i swapped the oil pressure sending unit for the autometer one tonight and the gauge zeroed itself when i gave it power so now that gauge is functional. That means my only non-functioning gauge is fuel level which i need a full tank to diagnose properly.
heres a few pics. I also shoved my carpet behind the back seats back under the plastic pieces, albeit poorly, but with the seats folded back up it looks perfect...
the subwoofers are too much fun

sending unit

center console started... pcm hidden and all other panels replaced / wiring tucked

quick pic of the back seats and subs lookin clean
